Doctors for the Cure
For many of us, the fight against breast cancer is personal. It certainly is for me. My mother, who is a breast cancer survivor, is the reason why I went into women’s health. Breast cancer affects 1 out of 8 women in her lifetime, and the breast cancer incidence rate continues to increase among Native Hawaiian women living here in Hawaii. The need for support from groups such as Doctors for the Cure® is greater than ever.
Please join me as a member of the Doctors for the Cure for the 25th Annual Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure on Sunday, October 13, 2019. It is truly a milestone for Komen Hawaii, signifying 25 years of supporting our local community. This 5k run/walk or 1-mile walk raises awareness and funds for breast cancer research nationally, and provides needed financial support for education, screening, and treatment initiatives right here in our community.
The funds raised by the Doctors for the Cure will also help honor breast cancer survivors at the Race with a special pink tent for their post-race celebration. They’ll also receive a commemorative Race day photo of the “Sea of Pink” they create in their Survivor and Forever Fighter group photo taken at the Race.
As medical professionals, we appreciate the short and long-term benefits of promoting early detection and treatment. Seventy–five percent of funds raised by Komen Hawaii supports to local breast health programs and patient treatment assistance. The remaining twenty-five percent funds vital breast cancer research.
Refer to this fillable registration form for this year’s Doctors for the Cure program, in hopes that you will join me and other physicians as sponsors of the Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure. Signing up is easy, just mail in the enclosed form or contact the office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
